Australians please help: What is "The Thirty-Three"? This appears in the novel, Keneally "Three Cheers for the Paraclete": A priest answers a question from a journalist (not serisouly). He said: "This I should give his readers a tip for the three and a half. Your response is very unfortunate reporter, I think because he is not serious (they are supposed to talk about religion) What is the "three and a half? If not, the history of the novel in May will be held in Sydney in 1960. And somewhere later speaks of" four and a half " as time.
It refers to horse racing and especially the race which begins at three and a half (three hours) If you do not realize the "rush" which means it's the thought that the horse will win.
