Sociologists: How do you feel about Obama's speech about race?
Have you felt the experience was reported as African-right American? Did he give an accurate representation of racial differences in religion? All comments? Please mention in your answer if you studied sociology or not.
I think the best moments of his speech when he highlighted the generational differences (ie, periods of Reverend Wright and Barack's grandmother own, where racism was perhaps most obvious and most common) and the question of "white racism" against immigrants. That said, I'm not sure he called the American "African" experience of the younger generation – crime, drugs, etc. that accompanied the rise of urbanization. He referred briefly. In this in terms of religion, I do not think is really nothing more than an illusion. The fact that Rev. Wright is an African-American, why what is the curse against Jews? Obama seemed to dismiss this aspect. (I have a BA in Sociology and work on my thesis yet)
