What role does religion with the hunger strikers in Northern Ireland and Ireland, and their conflict with England? Who is or was a Protestant and Catholic WO has been or is, and what they fight against you?
Good, is that I'm sitting in NI at the moment … Basically divided into 2 groups of people … Protestants and Catholics … but these religious groups have little chance of the real problem … The real issue is about groups and unionists … Republicans want the main groups in Northern Ireland joining the Republic of Ireland, while supporters want it to remain a province of the United Kingdom … Being as Ireland is a Catholic nation, Republican loyalists are mostly Catholic, and that the UK is predominantly Protestant "are also … To say that is universal simply wrong, because there are plenty of Catholics and vice versa, but basically breaks down like this … The conflict has been in existence for hundreds of years, when Protestants fear the government of a nation that had a majority Catholic, but the period to which they relate is still commonly called "problems". 1968 This period was caused by the bloody riots in Londonderry … To combat this time was very much against the political status as a political protest and a number of Irish prisoners held a strike hungry … This conflict has so far been resolved by the Good Friday Agreement, which allows NI to have its own government, in some so … more important that this government is led by two parties … the major actors are the Sinn Fein (republican and mainly Catholic) and the Ulster Unionist Party (the loyal and largely Protestant) … but with the understanding that all paramilitary groups to disarm … Hope this helps a bit … Also check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_Irish_Hunger_Strike
