Religion unites and defines certain individuals standards. He presents a lot of emotions (love, hate, fear). He coined the term "collective effervescence" to the special energy resulting from the interaction of the group, which he said was the root of all religion. The aspect of social cohesion is very important because it explains how religions survive. Whatever the theology behind each religion, the sense of belonging community and religious group type of activity is very important for the individual. These are things that can not be achieved without a group activity.
